Guy Moss (1918-82)

Guy Ernest J. Moss was born on the 4th May 1918, in Newark, to Ernest Moss, a schoolmaster, and his wife Lucy Elizabeth Patience Gay who had also been a teacher.

In 1939 he was a undergraduate in theology living in Hamble-le-Rice near Winchester. Guy was ordained in 1942 and held curacies in Peckham, Guildford (1944 St. Nicolas) and Burnham Beeches. As a member of the staff at Toc H he ran a hostel in Leicester for 2 years and was Deputy Chaplain of Leicester Prison. He was in charge of a mission church at Burnham, Buckinghamshire. In January 1951 Guy was instituted as Rector of Shimpling and Alpheton in West Suffolk.

In 1949 Guy Ernest J. Moss married Mary Fletcher in Burnham, Buckinghamshire. They had 2 children, Susanna M. (born 1950, Burnham, Bucks), and Philippa M. (born 1953 Sudbury)

On the 22nd November 1955 Guy was instituted and inducted Vicar of the united benefices of Hoxne and Denham. Whilst in Hoxne he was elected as chairman of the management committee of St Edmund's Hall and chaplain for the British Legion.

In 1962 they left Hoxne. 1961? No vicar in Jan to Dec in Deanery Magazine.

Guy died in 1982 in Norwich, age 64.
